River Rage To Hold Youth Dance and Cheer Clinic

COLUMBUS, Ga., (March 11) - The River Rage, the Columbus Riverdragons dance team, will hold a dance and cheer clinic for ages 5-15 Wednesday, March 19 from 5:00 – 6:00 p.m. at the Columbus Civic Center.

The $5 admission includes the clinic and a ticket for that night's game between the Riverdragons and their archival the Mobile Revelers. $5 tickets are also available for parents accompanying clinic participants. Tip-off for the game is 7 p.m.

The River Rage will choreograph and teach a dance routine that clinic participants will perform during halftime Wednesday evening. Clinic participants will also perform during the game with the River Rage along the baselines.

Participants are encouraged to pre-register in the lobby of the Civic Center Box Office at 4:45 p.m. For tickets or more information call Janda Cearley at (706) 225-1098.

The Riverdragons are one of eight teams in the National Basketball Development League (NBDL), the NBA's own minor league. The NBA is home to ground-breaking dance teams including the Atlanta Hawks Dance Team and the world-famous Los Angeles Laker Girls.

The River Rage is the featured act in the Riverdragons' popular game day experience. The 12-member squad was selected following a thorough audition process choreographed and directed by two members of the Atlanta Hawks Dance Team.

The River Rage consists of a diverse and eclectic mix of local students, teachers and professionals. Several members of the River Rage are classically trained with over 15 years dance experience. The Rage also includes former cheerleaders from several local universities and high schools.

The 12 members of the 2002-03 River Rage are: Alicia Ahlquist, Faye Borja, Tiffany Bravo, Rachael Cearley, Jacquetta Haygood, Jamie Hess, Tara Killgore, Mackenzie Pigg, Sabrina Thomas, Cherie Tye, Candice Walker and the team's popular mascot, Rivvy D.

The River Rage is coached and choreographed by Janda Cearley. The team manager is Kasone Chanthavongsa.

The River Rage is also involved in the Riverdragons community programs including Read To Achieve, making several special appearances in the Columbus area. For information on booking the River Rage call Kasone at (706) 225-1100.
