St. Cloud River Bats News Release
(ST. CLOUD, MN) - The St. Cloud River Bats strengthened their roster Monday by signing catcher J.R. Reynolds (Ohio) to its 2011 roster. The River Bats 15th Anniversary Season commences June 1.
Right now returning River Bat Mitchell Garver (New Mexico) and Reynolds are the two catchers under contract for the River Bats this summer. The River Bats are expected to sign at least one more catcher.
"It is very important to have good depth at catcher," River Bats Managing Partner Joel Sutherland said. "Adding J.R. really solidifies us behind the dish."
The 6'0'' 175-pound sophomore is hitting .250 (3-for-12) in five games for the Bobcats. Last season, Reynolds recorded one hit in four at-bats.
Born and raised in Cincinnati, Reynolds attended Moeller High School where he earned two letters in baseball. Reynolds led his team to the 2008 Ohio State Final Four. Reynolds is majoring in Sports Management at OU.
