Saint John Riptide News Release
Saint John based software company Dealermine CRM has partnered with Bee Me Kidz and the Saint John Riptide for the second annual "Bee A Leader" program.
The program which kicked off in December of 2017 will partner local youth directly with Riptide players to define their own goals within the community. The children will have the opportunity to interview their Riptide partner on leadership and the interviews will be posted to the team's social media channels. The program also comes with additional weekly responsibilities that the children must complete in order to move forward in the program and attend the finale at a Riptide game in March.
Bee Me Kidz Executive Director Missy Bewick was excited about the program and had the following to say "this is our second year partnering with the Riptide players to teach children in grades 4 and 5 leadership skills to make their communities a better place. Last year we were blown away by the goals the Bee Me Leaderz picked and accomplished. The goals consisted of raising $20 for the SPCA by doing a bottle drive, volunteering five hours at a nursing home, raising over $130 for a men's shelter and making 10 personal care kits to give out. These are only a few of the amazing goals accomplished by our Bee Me Leaderz. This year we are even more excited to see what the Leaderz set as their goals and accomplish working with the Riptide players. We have Dealermine and their employees to thank for making this partnership with the Riptide players possible".
Dealermine CEO Bob Quirion had the following to say "This amazing initiative is helping our local youth build leadership skills, while benefiting our community. We hope that with our support Bee a Leader can help develop our next generation of leaders and make a meaningful impact in our community. We are excited to be part of such a great initiative."
The program is schedule to start Saturday December 1st, 2018 at 8:40AM at all Bee Me Kidz centers. The program finishes on Thursday March 29th at Harbour Station at the Riptide home game versus the Moncton Magic.
Michelle Crandall, a parent of a Bee Me Leader said "our oldest child suffers from some learning disabilities and mental health issues, and before we started this program, we were seeing a dramatic decrease in her self-esteem/ self-worth. She had a hard time making friends and connecting with her peers, and a hard time expressing herself. Three years into this program, we still have our struggles, but she has gained her self-esteem back and become such a vibrant little girl again. My kids have learned about their feelings. How to deal with the good and the bad in the best ways possible. Productive ways to get their point across, and to feel better about themselves. They have also learned what it means to give back to their community, and they now love to do small things to "change the world". Bee Me Kidz is creating a strong group of future leaders, and I can't tell you how heart-warming it is to see in person. The transformation is incredible".
