New York Riptide News Release
Uniondale, NY - In the team's third move of the day, the New York Riptide announced the signing of veteran defender Mitch Wilde to a three-year contract, pending league review.
Wilde, 32, has spent nine seasons in the National Lacrosse League (with the Buffalo Bandits and Calgary Roughnecks, respectively), and has appeared in 136 games, scoring 41 goals and 71 assists for 112 points, and scooping 468 loose balls, while registering 77 caused turnovers. Last season with the Roughnecks, the Brooklin, Ontario native played in 10 games and scored 3 goals and had 1 assist, with 28 loose balls and nine caused turnovers.
"We are very excited to add Mitch to the Riptide Organization," said Riptide EVP & GM Rich Lisk. "Mitch brings veteran leadership and a winning pedigree to our backend. We recognized in the off-season that defense was going to be an area that we were going to focus on, and with the addition of Mitch our backend becomes much better. A defenseman that plays defense first, Mitch can also run transition with the best in the league. He is someone we targeted this off season and I am very excited for the fans to see what he brings to the organization."
