EDINBURG, Texas - Rio Grande Valley FC (WEST | 1-2-5) dropped three home points as New Mexico United WEST | (2-3-2) forced a late stage 2-2 draw at H-E-B Park.
Christian Francois and Juan David Cabezas connected on a beautiful give-and-go pass series that started from outside the box; Cabezas received the ball and fed it back to Francois who awaited at the center of the box. The Haitian striker controlled and sent the ball into net past Alex Tambakis to take the 1-0 lead for RGV FC and claim his first ever club goal; Cabezas was rewarded with an assist on the play.
Taylor Davila connected on a well-placed pass to the left end of the 18-yard box where a closing Wilmer Cabrera received and set up for a curling shot past Tambakis to extend the Toros' lead to 2-0 at the 73-minute mark, Davila was credited with the assist on the action.
At the 90-minute mark, Harry Swartz found a loose ball right in front of goal and tapped it in to take one back for New Mexico, making the match 2-1.
Just two minutes later, Sergio Rivas caught the RGV FC defense off guard as he snuck into the center of goal to equalize the match 2-2 in added time.
The visiting side stole a point back after chasing for most of the match to deny Rio Grande a home victory.
