BOUCHERVILLE, Thursday May 12 2005 (QMJHL) - It is in front of 10, 595 spectators that the Rimouski's Oceanics won the 2nd President Cup. With a 4-3 victory, the Rimouskois completed their 4 games sweep of the QMJHL's final series.

During that game, the Mooseheads were leading 2-1 in 2nd period until Francis Charette scored, giving the winners a 3-2 lead. By the very end of the 2nd period, Mark Tobin had given a 4-2 lead to the new champions.

Sidney Crosby, whose performance impressed more than one, has earned the Guy Lafleur trophy, being the most valuable player of the 2005 playoffs.

Tonight, by scoring his 14th goal of the series, the star forward Rimouskois completed the 2005 playoffs with 31 points in 13 games, thus winning the scorers championship, and therefore making him the 11th player of the QMJHL's history to win the title of best scorer of the season and series on a same year. The last player to achieve such a feat of strength was Simon Gamache, with Val-d'Or in 2001.

Doris Labonté's team has therefore earned a place in the Memorial Cup tournament, which will be held in London Ontario, from May 21 to 29, 2005. The opening match, bringing together the Oceanics with the team hosting this annual competition, the London's Knights, is scheduled on Saturday, may 21 at 7h pm. The game will be broadcasted on Réseau des Sports and Sportsnet. The Oceanic will take part in the Memorial Cup for the 2nd time, after winning the precious May 2000 trophy, in Halifax.
