December 19, 2002 â Lineman Riley Kleinhesselink has returned to Chicago after a one-year absence and signed a two-year contract to play for the Rush, the team announced today. In addition, the Rush signed WR/LB Tywan Mitchell and OL/DL Reggie Reddick to two-year deals.
In other roster moves the Rush announced it has waived veteran lineman Anthony Hutch and placed defensive specialist Tony Lukins on the team's exempt list after the Oakland Raiders signed him to their practice squad.
Kleinhesselink (6-5, 270, Northwestern College, Iowa) originally joined the Rush during the 2001 season, making an immediate impact on the team's defensive line. Kleinhesselink played in the team's final six regular season games, recording 3.5 tackles, 2.5 sacks and a forced fumble. After the 2001 season he signed with the New York Jets and spent the fall on the team's practice squad. In 2002 he was allocated to the Rhein Fire of NFL Europe.
Mitchell (6-5, 250 Mankato State) joins the Rush after spending the past three seasons with the Arizona Cardinals. A native of Crete, Ill., Mitchell played in 28 games for the Cardinals, recording 30 catches for 276 yards and two touchdowns.
Reddick (6-2, 305, Sam Houston State) begins his AFL career after a brief stint with the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League.
