
'Riders Add Two to Roster

Bismarck- January 30, 2003 - The Bismarck Roughriders of the National Indoor Football League have announced that they have signed defensive back Johnnie Peeples. The 5' 9" 180lb Peeples, originally from Fort Pierce Florida played his final two years of college football at the Unversity of Montana. While at the University of Montana Peeples racked up seven interceptions to go along with one touchdown.
"Johnnie has a reputation for being a physical defensive back and will fit in well with what we are going to do on the defensive side of the ball," Head Coach Luke Shafer.
The Roughriders have also announced that they have come to terms with former North Dakota State University running back DeShawn Perkins. The 5' 9" 195lb Perkins originally from Aroura, Colorado saw extensive action his final three years with the Bison while sharing time with current St. Louis Ram Lamar Gordon. In DeShawn's final three season he carried the ball 301 times for 1459 yards and 15 touchdowns.
"DeShawn is a great running back, he put up some very good numbers and made the most of all of his opportunities," said Shafer. "DeShawn and I were teammates so I know firsthand the kind of talent he has, I am looking forward to having him a Roughrider jersey this season," added Shafer.
