Richmond RiverRats Announce Schedule

Today the Prospect League, a college summer wood bat league, announces it 2012 schedule. The League enters its fourth season with an expanded schedule of 60 games, up from 56 games the last couple of seasons.

In addition to the increase in the number of games, the teams will be play the regular season inside their own division; the only time the teams will play the other division will be in the Championship round of post-season games. The new schedule features most Mondays as league-wide off days, coupled with the 3-day All-Star break, teams will play 60 games in 69 days.

The 2012 All-Star break is scheduled for July 10-12 with the game, home run contest and associated events schedule for Wednesday, July 11 at Robin Roberts Field, Springfield, IL. The format will feature East Division All-Stars v West Division All-Stars; the players will be selected by ballot from each of the team field managers. The winning division will have the home field advantage in the Championship Series scheduled for August 9-12.

Opening Day: Tuesday, May 29

All-Star Game: Wednesday, July 11 at Springfield, IL

Closing Day: Sunday, August 5

Post-Season Schedule:

Divisional Play-Off: Tuesday, August 7, at 1st Half Winner, by division, One Game

Travel Day: Wednesday, August 8

Game One Championship Series: Thursday, August 9 at All-Star Game Division Loser

Travel Day: Friday, August 10

Game Two Championship Series: Saturday, August 11 at All-Star Game Division Winner

Game Three Championship Series (if necessary): Sunday, August 12 at All-Star Game Division Winner
