BILOXI, MS -- The Mississippi Surge ran their unbeaten streak to ten games with a 2-1 win in overtime over the Pensacola Ice Flyers at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum on Sunday.

After a scoreless first period, Pensacola controlled play early in the second period, and capitalized on a chance midway through the frame when Rob Campbell found the rebound of a shot from Dan Buccella and fired it past Mississippi netminder Ryan Senft's glove for a 1-0 Ice Flyers lead at 11:53.

Despite being out-shot by a count of 30-13 through the first two periods, the Surge turned up the pressure in the third frame. After going on the power play when Pensacola's Anthony Monte was whistled for hooking at 2:08, it took just 18 seconds for the Surge to tie the game at one-apiece when Matthew Larke backhanded a shot past Pensacola's Ryan Scott for a power-play goal at 2:26 of the third frame.

Mississippi kept the offensive pressure high, and threatened through the third period, but solid goaltending from Pensacola's Scott kept the game even.

Early in overtime, Larke broke down the ice into the Pensacola zone to the net and was hooked down to the ice by the Ice Flyer's Dan Buccella, putting the Surge on the power play again. Mike Richard blasted a one-timer on a feed from Steve Weidlich past Scott for a 2-1 Surge overtime victory at 2:17 of the extra session.

Ryan Senft made 36 saves to earn the win, and the Surge went 2-for-6 on the power play.

The Surge are home on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. against the Columbus Cottonmouths! Wednesday night is Who Dat?
