
Rhinos Win at Home against Pittsburgh

Rochester, NY- The Rochester Rhinos were expecting Saturday's match to start on time to when they were to face the Pittsburgh River Hounds at Rhinos Stadium. For the first time this season, the Rhinos had a weather delay due a lightning storm passing through. The teams kicked off 40 minutes later.
The Rhinos (9-5-9) looked at this match for a win to stay in the top eight for a playoff position. The Rhinos came off a tie on the road after facing Louisville City FC. The Riverhounds (4-14-4) were coming off their first win at home since June 18th. They faced Bethlehem Steel FC, 2-1.
The Riverhounds came off strong to start. They got a shot off by Aguilar for the Riverhounds and resulted in an early corner kick. Rhinos gained possession quickly and played the ball up the field in the seventh minute to get a shot on goal resulting in a corner kick for the Rhinos.
8' Ryan James crossed far side to Sofiane Tergou and with a hearder Tergou found the back of the net. This brought the Rhinos to an early 1-0 lead against the Riverhounds.
As the rain barreled down, the Rhinos continued to play the ball swiftly up the field to gain many opportunities towards the goal. Shots were seen by Christian Voleksy, Captian Michael Garzi and Tergou early on.
Riverhounds brought high pressure to the Rhinos half. Riverhounds saw shots on goal early on, but ball was cleared out. The Rhinos defense was strong and broke down the Riverhounds plays to send the ball up field.
40' The Rhinos saw another opportunity up the field. Garzi sends the ball to Steevan Dos Santos but the ball goes over his head and finds Tergou. Tergou takes a shot and finds the back of the net. This brought the Rhinos 2-0 against the Riverhounds in the first half.
The second half both teams brought high intensity in the first couple minutes. Rhinos forward, Dos Santos, kept pressuring the Riverhounds goalie, Zach Steffen, hoping to get a play.
57' Riverhounds goalie, Steffen, saves a ball of a Rhinos corner kick. The ball is sent out right to Sean Reilly's feet. Reilly gets a touch on the ball and it is a goal for the Rhinos, 3-0.
Tergou and Reilly scored their first goals as Rochester Rhinos in Saturday night's match.
"It always good to get on the score sheet. They don't always come easy, but when they do it's a great feeling," said Sean Reilly.
The Rhinos remained to keep the shout out alive until the final whistle. Bringing the final score at home 3-0. The Rhinos advanced to 10-5-9 on the season.
