Rochester Rhinos News Release

(Rochester, NY)... After a much-needed 2-0 win over the Atlanta Silverbacks at PAETEC Park on Saturday night, the Rochester Rhinos will return to action in a rematch of last weekend's tilt on Saturday, August 30 at 7:55 p.m. at Re/Max Greater Atlanta Stadium.

With the win on Saturday, the Rhinos improved to 9-8-8 this season. Their 34 points are good enough for fifth place in the First Division table, just two points behind Charleston and Seattle who are tied for third. Rhinos midfielder Luke Kreamalmeyer's eighth assist of the season on Saturday night place him two behind league leader Johnny Steele. His eight assists are one shy of Martin Nash's single season franchise record of nine in 2000. Kreamalmeyer leads the Rhinos in scoring with 16 points (4+8=16).

The race for the playoffs includes the Silverbacks who, with their 8-9-8 record, are two points behind Rochester. They have been without their leading striker Macoumba Kandji who has been nursing a high ankle sprain which has caused him to miss Atlanta's last three matches. Kandji is now second in the First Division with 25 points, six behind league-leader Alex Afonso of Miami FC. Before taking on Rochester, the Silverbacks will travel to Vancouver to face the Whitecaps on Wednesday from Swangard Stadium.

In 2008 the teams with the top seven point totals advance to the USL-1 postseason with the top seed receiving a first-round bye.
