Rochester Rhinos News Release
(Rochester, NY)... The Rochester Rhinos (M) will remain at home this Saturday, June 7th when they play host to the Miami FC Blues at PAETEC Park at 7:35 p.m. The match will be the second leg of a soccer double-header as the Rhinos (W) will also return home to face the Vermont Voltage at 4:00 p.m.
The Rhinos (M) earned their first win of the season on Sunday night, defeating the Portland Timbers 2-1. Matthew Delicate and John Menyongar provided the offense, with each registering a goal and an assist. The win, which improved the Rhinos to 1-4-3, also marked the first for Darren Tilley as Rhinos Head Coach.
This weekend will mark the first meeting of the season between Rochester and Miami FC. The Blues currently are 2-6-3 and reside in eighth place in the USL First Division, three points ahead of Rochester. Leading the way for Miami are Alex Alfonso who leads the league in goals (6) and points (13) and Sean Cameron with two goals and two assists. Rochester has yet to lose to Miami, holding an all-time mark of 5-0-0.
The Rhinos (W) return home with a 1-1 record this season after falling to the Hamilton Avalanche 2-0 on Sunday. Their opponent, the Vermont Voltage, come to PAETEC Park looking for their first win of the season in five tries. Rochester is led by Amanda Janosky with two goals and five points in 2008.
The first 1,000 fans to the men's match will receive a limited edition Kodak Fun Saver camera commemorating the Rhinos 1998 championship season. Additionally, fans will be able to use their ticket for the men's match to access both the men's and women's contests. All students can show their student ID's at the box office and receive a half-price ticket.
