RGV Locks in Second Consecutive Win

EDINBURG, Texas - Rio Grande Valley FC (3-4-0) found their second consecutive win in the USL Championship as they dropped Sacramento Republic FC (3-2-1) at H-E-B Park on Saturday night. Malesevic scored his first professional goal, Borczak scored his second goal of the 2022 campaign.

As expected, the opening half of the match saw both eager sides take their chances; Rio Grande was limited to just three shots, one on target while Sacramento Republic totaled six shots, one on target. Isidro Martinez led the charge for the Toros in the first half with two created chances as they picked away at the tight Sacramento defensive unit.

At the 61st minute, Luka Malesevic found a loose ball at the top of the box and sent a well-placed shot to the top right corner of the goal to open the scoring on the night for RGV FC, 1-0. This marked the Montenegro native's first professional goal, and first goal in the USL Championship with RGV FC.

At the 72nd minute, Conor Donovan found a loose ball just feet away from the goal line and tapped in the equalizing goal for Sacramento Republic, 1-1.

In additional time at the 92nd minute, Dylan Borczak found his second goal of the 2022 campaign as Jonathan Ricketts sent a cross into the box from the right wing. The Detroit native struck the ball cleanly into the net to make the match,2-1 in the Toros favor and ultimately winning the match with the strike.
