SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The Rio Grande Valley FC ended their 2021 campaign in a 3-1 loss to San Antonio FC in the semifinal matchup of the USL Championship Playoffs, Presented by TwinSpires.
San Antonio scored the first goal of the match in the 24th minute after Santiago Patiño sent a shot to the bottom right corner, 1-0. In the second half, San Antonio FC put two behind the net within six minutes.
Second goal came in the 55th minute after a brace by Patiño. In the 61st minute, Nathan Fogaça finished the third goal of the night, 3-0.
Elvis Amoh scored the lone goal for RGV in the 69th minute after he was able to convert a penalty shot to the top left corner, 3-1.
RGV ended the night with nine total shots, three on target while being able to maintain a 66.6% of ball possession. SAFC totaled 13 shots, six on target.
Amoh, Kyle Edwards and Juan Carlos Azocar totaled two shots each. Rodrigo Lopez had three key passes for the night.
Meanwhile, Colin Miller had three saves while Juan David Cabezas had eight tackles.
