RGV FC Fall to Memphis 901 FC

EDINBURG, Texas - Rio Grande Valley FC ( WEST | 1-2-3) fell against Memphis 901 FC (EAST | 1-2-2) at home on a long night, 3-0. Memphis claim their first win of the season.
The visiting Memphis 901 FC side were able to create some danger at the 16-minute mark as a shot by Jeremy Kelly hit low, and hard, bounced off woodwork, past a fully stretched Tyler Deric who dove to his right, 0-0.
901 FC found early success as Bruno Lapa snuck one past a closing Deric, and just past two sliding RGV FC defenders at the line; the play originated on the left end of the field and the shot was taken toward the center of the goal, 1-0.
Rio Grande missed out on a clear chance at goal as Wilmer Andres Cabrera received a pass inside the 6-yard box in front of goal but was denied by a defender who sent the shot out of danger. Taylor Davila received the loose ball inside the box on the ensuing rebound but sent it wide as a sliding Memphis man just narrowly redirected it to corner, 0-1.
Memphis extended their lead at the 64-minute mark as Graham Smith chested a ball into the net after it hit the crossbar on a previous shot attempt; Smith was unmarked and was able to just ease the ball into net to make it 2-0 for the visitors.
At the 87th minute, Nighte Pickering placed the nail in the coffin as he made it 3-0 on an open play chance, placing a smooth ball past Tyler Deric.
The Toros were limited to just 1 shot on target, as the long night at H-E-B Park came to an end with the first home loss.
RGV FC head West to take on Monterey Bay Union SC on Saturday, April 29.
