May 16, 2018 - Atlantic League (AtL)
York Revolution News Release
The York Revolution dropped their third straight game with a 6-2 loss to the Somerset Patriots Tuesday night at PeoplesBank Park.
The Patriots scored first on Justin Trapp's RBI groundout in the top of the first off Revs starter Mitch Atkins, who was facing his former team for the first time. Somerset added two more runs on three hits in the second, with runs coming on a Yovan Gonzalez RBI groundout and a two-out error.
Julio Borbon cracked a two-run homer over the wall in right-center field to push the Pats' lead to 5-0 in the fourth.
Atkins went four innings, allowing five runs (four earned) on nine hits with three strikeouts and no walks.
After Patriots starter Duane Below threw six shutout innings and stifled the Revs offense all night, York got to Somerset's bullpen, scoring two runs off reliever Dustin Molleken in the seventh. Luis Cruz plated Welington Dotel with an RBI triple to the right-center field gap, and Cruz scored on Jose Cuevas' sac fly to center to make it a 5-2 game.
The Patriots got one of those runs back in the top of the eighth on Borbon's sac fly to left to make it 6-2 Patriots, giving Borbon three RBI on the night.
The Revs made some noise in the ninth after Cruz and Cuevas both singled with two outs to set up a first-and-third situation, but failed to score off Pats closer Dustin Antolin.
Below (1-1) earned the win for Somerset while Atkins (0-2) took the loss for York.
The Revs finish their three-game series against Somerset with a doubleheader (two seven-inning games) on Wednesday starting at 6:30 p.m. It is Southern York County School District Night, and concludes the homestand sponsored by York County Economic Alliance. York righty Zac Grotz (0-0, 0.90) faces Somerset right-hander Kyle Davies (0-0, 0.00) in the opener, while Revs right-hander Dominic Severino (1-1, 2.81) goes up against Somerset righty Cory Riordan (1-0, 3.57) in the nightcap. Tickets are on sale at YorkRevolution.com, (717) 801-HITS, and in-person at the YOrk Revolution ticket office.
Revs Notes: Infielder Jose Cuevas (ankle) and outfielder Melky Mesa (hamstring) made their returns from the disabled list in Tuesday's game. Cuevas hadn't played since May 2 and Mesa hadn't played since April 28. The loss was the Revs' first at home vs. the Patriots since the 2016 season as York went 7-0 at home against Somerset last year. The Revs had won a season-high four straight prior to their current three-game slide.
