
Reno Bighorns Come up Short against Vipers

Reno, NV., March 17, 2014 - The Reno Bighorns late rally in the fourth wasn't enough as the Rio Grande Valley Vipers won 126-119. The Bighorns are now 24-18 this season.
There were four lead changes in the first quarter. The Vipers biggest lead was eight points. Rio Grande Valley finished the quarter up 21-18.
The Bighorns came back in the second quarter and led 50-47 going into halftime. Trent Lockett scored 11 points in the first half and Bryan Davis added 9 rebounds. The Houston Rockets assignment player, Robert Covington, gave 16 points to the Vipers.
The Vipers took back the lead early in the third quarter going on a 7-0 run (10:09-9:11) and led the entire quarter. Going into the fourth quarter, Rio Grande Valley led by 16 points, 90-74. Covington had another big quarter with 14 points for the Vipers. Mo Charlo and Bryan Davis each had 7 points in the quarter for the Bighorns.
Reno attempted to make a surge in the final quarter, getting within 7 points twice in the quarter, but it wasn't enough to take the lead.
Sundiata Gaines had a season-high 28 points and 11 rebounds. Bryan Davis scored a double-double with 12 points and 15 rebounds. Also in double figures were: Trent Lockett (21), DeQuan Jones (17), Mo Charlo (13)and Ra'shad James (11).
For the Vipers, Robert Covington scored a game-high 41 points and 10 rebounds. Maalik Wayn added 17 points.
