Ottawa Renegades News Release

KEMPTVILLE – The Ottawa Renegades Football Club added officially signed American defensive lineman Johnny Scott to the training camp roster Saturday. The veteran reported Friday, passed a physical and practiced for the first time on Saturday morning under sunny skies at Kemptville College/University of Guelph.

Scott, who was claimed off of waivers by Ottawa last week, will join an already well-stocked Renegades defensive line that showed well in last Thursday night's pre-season victory over the Montreal Alouettes, 27-16.

"We know he can play and now he has to get the system down," said Renegades head coach and general manager Joe Paopao, who coached the 6-foot-2, 270-pound Texas native in the past.

The Renegades are getting set for two key dates on the pre-season calendar. Ottawa will host Montreal in the final 2005 exhibition game on Thursday, June 16 at Frank Clair Stadium (7 p.m.). Prior to that, however, the Renegades must slice their roster down to 50 players (excluding 2005 CFL draft selections) by Monday at ! 11:59 p.m.
