Hudson Valley Renegades News Release
FISHKILL, NY (August 6, 2004) - The Hudson Valley Renegades were defeated for the second straight night by the Auburn Doubledays, 4-1 at Dutchess Stadium in front of a sell out crowd of 4,728. For the second straight night the Renegades have failed to make up ground on first place Brooklyn who also lost.
Auburn got on the board first scoring an unearned run on a Renegade past ball in the top of the third. The Renegades tied the game in the bottom of the third on 2B Josh Asanovich's RBI single, but that would be all the scoring the Renegades would do.
The Doubledays added two more runs in the sixth inning on DH Adam Lynn's two run-home run and one more in the eight on C Curtis Thigpen's solo-home run.
Tim King (L, 5-2) got the loss for the Renegades pitching five innings allowing three hits and two earned runs.
Derek Tate (W, 1-0) got the win for the Doubledays in his first New York-Penn League appearance. He pitched five innings allowing one run and four hits while striking out eight. Dewon Day (S, 9) got the save pitching the ninth inning and striking out three.
The Renegades start a three game series with the Stedler Divison leading Tri-City ValleyCats at Dutchess Stadium tomorrow. Both pitchers are TBA. Game time is scheduled for 7:11 PM
