Renegades Complete Draft
July 9, 2006 - SPHL (SPHL)
Richmond Renegades News Release
The Richmond Renegades, members of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL), today announced their selections from the first ever SPHL expansion draft. The Renegades drafted 8 forwards and four defensemen taking two players from every team except Pee Dee.
"We were extremely surprised at the quality of players that were made available", stated Allan B. Harvie, Jr., President and General Manager of the Renegades. "Coaches Brophy and Goudie and I spent a lot of time researching every player and how they might impact our team. We feel we have selected players who will have an impact and will fit into Coach Brophy's style of play. We are not sure how many of these players will report. However, we have spoken to several and have been met with very positive responses" Harvie continued.
"I don't know how many of these players will make our roster," stated Coach Brophy. "With the players we will have coming in many of these drafted players will need to work hard to break in. There are a couple of these drafted players we would like to sign right away as we feel they can have an immediate impact," he continued. "Brian (Assistant Coach Goudie) and I have been working the phones extensively and we are really pleased with the response. Anybody wanting to make the Renegades roster will need to be in absolute top shape when training camp comes."
