Richmond Renegades News Release
The Richmond Renegades today announced a unique competition designed to involve many of the area high school bands. Called the Battle of the High School Bands, the contest will pit high school bands playing against each other at Renegades Saturday night home games culminating in a championship at the Renegades final regular season home game, Friday, March 23, 2007.
Each week, two or more different bands will be selected to play during a Saturday home hockey game with each band playing several times during the game. Each game's winner will be determined by crowd response during the game and at the end of the game. At each game, one band will win until all bands have played one time. The next round will place winning bands against each other until all have played a second time. Once again, at each game one band will win. A third round and, if necessary, a fourth round will follow until two finalists are chosen to play at the Renegades last regular season home game for the championship and Champions trophy.
The Renegades are offering the bands an opportunity to use this as a fundraiser. "In our invitation letter to the schools we are showing them how they can raise thousands of dollars by participating in this contest," stated Allan B. Harvie, Jr., President and GM of the Renegades. "There is a huge incentive for the schools to play, have fun and make money. The winner at each game is decided by the fans so the school with the largest student and parent participation will have a definite advantage"
Schools wishing further information can call the Renegades office at 644-PUCK (7825) or go to the Renegades website at www.rrenegades.com.
