Renegades acquire Matt Goody

The Richmond Renegades today announced they have acquired the rights to forward and former Richmond Riverdog, Matt Goody. Goody started the 2006-07 season with the Wheeling Nailers of the ECHL. In nine games with Wheeling Goody had one assist and 49 PIM's.
Goody began his professional career in 2003 with Port Huron of the UHL where he racked up 119 PIM's in 27 games. He returned to Port Huron in 2004 and played 52 games scoring 4 goals and 4 assists and spending 152 minutes in the penalty box. He started the 2005-06 campaign in Amarillo of the CHL playing 12 games before coming to the Richmond Riverdogs. In 51 games with the 'Dogs he had 2 goals and 2 assists plus hit a career high 322 PIM's. Goody was called up to the Providence Bruins of the AHL at the end of the season where he appeared in 6 games.
"Matt will add some real toughness to our club at just the right time", stated Allan B. Harvie, Jr. "Mitchell and Cross have stepped up to the plate and done a great job but Coach Brophy, Goudie and I decided we needed to add some serious toughness. Matt has taken on that challenge and we're excited about having him join our team in time for this trip."
In order to play immediately, Goody will be signed to a five game tryout. He will join the team in Richmond for practice Wednesday morning. The team leaves immediately after practice for the trip to Huntsville. The Renegades play Huntsville Thanksgiving Day and Knoxville Friday night. They return home for a date with Fayetteville on Saturday night which is UKROP's UVC Customer Card Night and the first Renegades "2-3-4 and More Night". Fans pay $22 and receive 2 hot dogs, 2 Cokes, 2 popcorns, 2 Fire-a-Tire coupons, 2 Tropical Smoothie coupons, 2 Hooters $5 coupons, 2 Renegades tattoos, 2 G-Force Kart coupons and a 2 pak of Advil from Wyeth. Additional fans can be added for only $11 per person and each will receive one each of the coupons. Game time is set for 7:35 PM.
