Dayton Dragons News Release
Dayton, Ohio - Registration is underway for the 5th Annual SUBWAY Dragons 5K at Fifth Third Field on Saturday, July 23. For the fifth straight year, the Dragons and SUBWAY have teamed up for one of the Miami Valley's biggest races.
All participants in the run receive an official 5K shirt, tickets to a Dragons game, two vouchers for FREE subs/salads from SUBWAY restaurants, and more. On top of all the great race bag gear, if fans sign up for the race in the first 30 days of registration opening (by February 24), they will receive a bonus of two tickets to a Dragons game in April.
An awards ceremony will take place after the race. The top three male and female finishers will receive a specially-engraved baseball bat. Top groups will receive great group prizes.
The registration fee is $25 in advance or $30 during the week of the race. Kids age 17 and under can register for $15. Fans should sign up today to reserve their spot at daytondragons.com/subwaydragons5K.
The race will begin at 9:00 a.m. on July 23 at Fifth Third Field. Participants may choose to run or walk the course. Baby strollers are also permitted. The course will move through downtown Dayton and end back at the ballpark for a post-race party.
The post-race fun features free food, a kid's fun run obstacle course, inflatable games, an appearance by Heater and Gem, face painting, and more fun for the whole family.
NEW to the SUBWAY Dragons 5K in 2016 is a costume contest. Participants are encouraged to dress up in anything Dragons or baseball-related for the chance to win fantastic prizes. Costume categories will include best male, best female, best couple, and best group, among others.
"The number FIVE has come to mean a great deal at Subway over the years, with $5 Footlongs back in 2008, our 50th years of "Founded on Fresh" in 2015, and now the option of getting 50% more meat on our subs and salads, so we look forward to celebrating a significant milestone of FIVE years of the Subway Dragons FIVE K," said local SUBWAY owner Jeff Vogelmeier. "Dayton area Subway owners set out FIVE years ago to bring a 5K to Dayton that is all about Fun, Family and Fitness, and now, as we unveil more and more All Natural products that take our commitment to Health and Fitness to a new level, we think the partnership makes more sense than ever!"
Robert Murphy, President of the Dayton Dragons, added "the SUBWAY Dragons 5K has become a tradition at Fifth Third Field and represents the importance of the fit and healthy lifestyle that SUBWAY stands for."
