[RIO RANCHO, N.M.]-Former New Mexico Scorpions right wing Konrad Reeder has signed to play in Europe this coming season. Reeder will suit up for the Frederikshavan White Hawks of the Danish Hockey League.

The past two seasons, Reeder has become a top player in the Central Hockey League included a career high 108 points this past season for the Scorpions. His total was the second highest single season point total in the history of the New Mexico Scorpions.

"To play in Denmark is a great opportunity for me and my family. My wife Katie and I felt this is the right time to play in Europe, while our son Wyatt is still young," said Reeder. "I have always wanted to play hockey in Europe and feel it will be a great life experience to not only play over there but experience European culture."

Reeder leaves the Scorpions as one of the best offensive players in team history. Over two seasons the Vanderhoof, B.C. native scored 143 goals, eighth most on the organization's 11 year history. His 59 career goals place his sixth in the all-time list.

"I really loved living and playing here in Rio Rancho, this was not the easiest decision to leave such a great area and fans," said Reeder. "I want to thank Coach Murphy for a great experience on the ice and helping me grow as a player."

Long time Scorpions fans quickly became fans of the speedster, who wore number 21 on the ice, often comparing him to his head coach.

"Our league is established to create opportunities for players at higher levels," said Scorpions head coach Randy Murphy. "Konrad was presented with a great opportunity and we wish him the best of luck for the coming season."
