LANCASTER, Calif. - A.J. Reed was named the California League's Player of the Week for the week of May 4-10, the league announced Monday. The JetHawks first baseman is the first Lancaster player or pitcher to receive a weekly honor in the 2015 season.

Reed totaled four home runs and tallied 11 RBIs to help Lancaster finish the week with five consecutive wins and a three-game sweep of division-rival Lake Elsinore. Reed hit .375 and posted a 1.500 OPS. The 2014 Golden Spikes Award Winner added four doubles, scored 11 runs and walked six times.

The impressive week was headlined by a breakout performance last Wednesday at Stockton when Reed went 3-for-4 with three home runs, nine RBIs and five runs scored in the JetHawks 18-4 victory. He became the first player in all of minor league baseball to homer three times in a game this season and the first Lancaster hitter to do so since Danry Vasquez went deep three times at home against Visalia on July 16, 2014. It was also the first multi-homer game of Reed's career.

Reed capped the week by celebrating his 22nd birthday with a base-hit during Lancaster's come-from-behind 9th inning rally on Sunday against Lake Elsinore. He would end up scoring the winning run on Jack Mayfield's walk-off single.

Entering Tuesday's action, Reed leads the Cal League with 25 RBIs and ranks second with eight home runs.

The JetHawks begin a seven-game road trip on Tuesday night with the opener of a three-game series at Visalia. First pitch is 6 p.m.
