Memphis Redbirds News Release
MEMPHIS, TN - Oklahoma City used a pair of rallies to put away Memphis 6-2 Sunday afternoon at AutoZone Park and send the Redbirds to their fifth straight loss.
Craig Gentry's two-out, two-run triple in the seventh extended the RedHawks lead to three runs. However, Memphis responded with two runs in the bottom of the inning to cut the lead to one run on RBI-groundouts by Shane Robinson and Daniel Descalso. Gentry again was a part of the Hawks rally in the ninth driving in a run with a fielder's choice. Chad Tracy capped the three-run rally with a two-run single. Gentry finished the day with three RBI and Andy Jenkins chipped in three hits and two runs. Shane Robinson and Donovan Solano led the âBirds with three hits each.
Oklahoma City starter Derek Holland earned the win with six scoreless innings. The left-hander fanned six and scattered seven hits for his second win of the year. Memphis starter Evan MacLane was the tough-luck loser giving up three runs on eight hits with eight strikeouts over 6.2 innings.
The Redbirds and RedHawks wrap up their four-game series tomorrow night with Oklahoma City going for the sweep. Memphis sends Lance Lynn to the mound tomorrow to face Hawks right-hander Brandon McCarthy. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 p.m. For ticket information call 901.721.6000 or visit memphisredbirds.com.
