MONTREAL - Montreal Impact forward Reda Agourram has been invited to take part in the U23 Canadian national team training camp, scheduled for November 8 to 18 in Sunrise, Florida.
"I am proud to have been invited once again to join the national team," said Agourram. "This will be another great experience for me. It's a good way to finish up the 2010 year. I hope to perform well during the camp in order to solidify my place on the team."
Agourram, who turned 20 on October 12, will partake in a second national team experience with the under-23 squad, after participating in last January's training camp held in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Of note, he played in a friendly against Honduras on January 16, 2010. Agourram had also been a member of the under-20 team that took part in the Jeux de la Francophonie, in 2009.
In 2010, in his rookie season with the Impact, Agourram scored two goals in 22 regular season games, eight as a starter and accumulated 825 minutes of play. He also found the back of the net in training camp against Freamunde and Celta de Vigo, and scored last summer against Barracuda FC and Fiorentina in international exhibition matches.
During this 10-day training camp, the national team will practice twice a day and will play two friendly games against local clubs. The U23 team is preparing for the upcoming Olympic qualifying tournament.
