Chattanooga Red Wolves SC News Release
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - The Chattanooga Red Wolves have signed USL Championship center midfielder Jose Carrera Garcia for the 2021 season. Carrera Garcia brings Liga MX and USL Championship experience bringing a high level of professional achievements to Chattanooga's 2021 squad.
Carrera has left an impact wherever he goes and has a track record of consistency. While studying at University California, Berkeley he became 3rd all-time leading assist with 29 assists, all Pac12 team three times, Pac12 assist leader twice, all far-west regional team three times, and first player to win Team MVP three times in four years. While in Liga MX he garnered four assists before moving on to the Las Vegas Lights where he earned three assists in thirteen games. Jose will be a quintessential piece for the Red Wolves, and will be a tremendous asset to have in the middle.
Carrera is already reeling for the 2021 season. "I am very excited to be part of this club," says Carrera. "It is a new challenge in my career, and I will arrive in Chattanooga with the mentality that we have to win it all. I intend on coming here to win my first championship as a professional. Since the day Coach Obleda explained to me the project he is trying to build I was sold. He is building a championship team for a club that deserves nothing less. It will be a great year for everyone involved in the club. I am ready to go".
Sean McDaniel, President and General Manager of the Chattanooga Red Wolves, has both high praise and high expectations for Jose upon his arrival. "Jose is one of our top signings this season. His leadership experience will be invaluable both on and off the field. He is both a quality player and person", he said. Having a player of this caliber come into this middle position will be incredibly valuable, and there is an expectation for him to be an immediate threat to any opposition the team faces.
The Head Coach and Technical Director sees Jose as more than just a player, but someone who will be the backbone that the team relies on in the middle. He said, "Jose was a player we have been looking at for some time. His dynamic play and tireless work gives us something we have been looking for. But perhaps what is most important is his leadership on and off the pitch. He is someone we will be looking for to carry the flag for the team in 2021. Garcia will be a great midfielder for the Chattanooga Red Wolves and an excellent first signee for the 2021 roster.
