Boston Pride News Release
The Boston Red Sox are bringing the World Series Trophy to the next home game of the Boston Pride!
When the Pride host Buffalo this Saturday, Nov. 17 at Warrior Ice Arena, the World Series Trophy will be made available by the 2018 champion Red Sox for fans to take their photos with it from 7:00 until 8:30 pm. Tickets are available now at NWHL.zone/tickets. Fans are encouraged to get theirs immediately, before the game sells out.
Raquel Ferreira, the Senior Vice President of Major and Minor League Baseball Operations for the Red Sox, will take part - along with her daughter - in the ceremonial opening faceoff.
Taking the faceoff for the Pride will be star goaltender Katie Burt, the first overall selection in the 2017 NWHL Draft and NCAA all-time victories leader who is also a ball girl for the Red Sox, and Pride captain and life-long Red Sox fan Jillian Dempsey.
"We are thrilled that the Red Sox are bringing the World Series trophy to our game!" said Dempsey. "After experiencing the excitement of their playoff victories and historic championship, it will be something very special to have the trophy in our rink! We are hoping more Boston fans will come to support us on Saturday and at every game and see how passionately we play for Boston, too!"
In 2016, the Boston Pride won the first-ever Isobel Cup in the inaugural season of the NWHL. Of the 22 players on the team's roster, 19 were either raised or went to college in New England.
