
Red Bulls Host Rivals New York City FC in Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup Quarterfinals on Wednesday

HARRISON, N.J. - The New York Red Bulls (7-4-5, 26 pts.) host rivals New York City FC (8-3-3, 27 pts.) on Wednesday, June 22 at Red Bull Arena in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup quarterfinals. Kickoff is set for 8 p.m. ET with coverage on ESPN+, and New York Red Bulls Radio in English and Spanish via TuneIn, the New York Red Bulls app and NewYorkRedBulls.com.
New York Red Bulls Radio begins at 7 p.m. ET with Countdown to Kickoff, presented by Honda, hosted by Matt Harmon and Steve Jolley. Stefano Fusaro will carry the Spanish play-by-play responsibilities, beginning at 7:30 p.m. ET.
This will be the third meeting in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup between the two clubs with the Red Bulls holding the advantage in the series, 2-0-0. The last time the clubs competed against each other in the Open Cup was on June 6, 2018, where the Red Bulls won 4-0. New York Captain Aaron Long recorded his first career Open Cup goal in the match. NYCFC are currently first place in the Eastern Conference and advanced to the Open Cup quarterfinals after defeating New England Revolution, 1-0, in the Round of 16. NYCFC have not lost a match across all competitions since April 6, where they suffered a 3-1 loss to Seattle Sounders in the CONCACAF Champions League semifinals.
The Red Bulls have won three-straight home matches and are coming off a 2-0 win against Toronto FC on Saturday, June 18. New York have posted a 9-1-2 mark against NYCFC at Red Bull Arena across all competitions. The Red Bulls are currently on a seven-match unbeaten streak against NYCFC at Red Bull Arena.
Goalkeeper Carlos Coronel posted his fourth clean sheet of the season and his 17th career shutout with the Red Bulls. He moved into a tie for third place in franchise history with Jon Conway in shutouts. Coronel has made three career appearances against NYCFC and has recorded two shutouts against them. The Brazilian goalkeeper ranks tied for ninth in MLS in shutouts.
Following Wednesday's match, New York will travel to the West Coast to face off against Los Angeles FC for the first time since 2019 on Sunday, June 26.
