
Record crowd witnesses 2005 CBA All-Star Classic

Gary, IN: In front of a Steelheads record crowd of 6,683, the 9th largest in CBA history, the Eastern Conference defeated the Western Conference 114-110 in the 21st Annual CBA All-Star Classic. Sam Clancy was named the Most Valuable Player for his 25 point, 17 rebound performance.
The All-Star Classic also included the Long Distance Shootout and the Dunk Off Competition. The contests both had a distinctive Steelheads flair as David Graves and Renaldo Major walked off with victories. Graves had a 23 point effort to make his way to the finals and then put up 20 points to win the Shootout. Major threw down unbelievable dunks, posting a 48 and a perfect 50 to win the title.
The Eastern Conference jumped out to a 33-23 lead after the 1st quarter and expanded the lead to 59-54 at the half. The Western Conference jumped back into the ball game with a 30-25 quarter before the Eastern Conference captured the final quarter 30-26 and the game 114-110.
Leading the way for the Eastern Conference was David Graves with 20 points. Former Steelhead Marshall Phillips had 16 points and Jemeil Rich had 15 points and a game high 10 assists. Lonnie Jones had 8 points and 7 rebounds and Shelly Clark 14 points and 7 rebounds.
The Western Conference was led by the MVP efforts of Sam Clancy, who had 25 points and 17 rebounds. Former Steelheads Randy Livingston had 19 points and 10 assists. DeSean Hadley and Marlon Parmer each had 15 points in the loss.
