Philadelphia Rebels News Release
SEWELL, NJ - On Saturday night, the Philadelphia Rebels (23-25-1-1, 48 pts) and the Maine Nordiques (29-17-2-1, 61 pts) wrapped up a weekend series with a 3-1 Maine victory.
Friday night's game ended the Rebels' four-game win streak along with Jakub Krbecek's shutout streak and they came into Saturday looking to get back on track.
On Saturday, Krbecek stopped 24 of 26 shots for his eighth straight game allowing two goals or fewer.
Similarly to Friday night, the Rebels found themselves down 2-0 to the Nordiques to end the first period. Nicholas Bernado and Aidan Coupe scored the Nordiques goals in the first period, with Coupe's goal coming on the power play.
The Rebels came away with more shots in the period, but still found themselves in a 2-0 hole.
The second period came and went without any goals. The Rebels had a power-play opportunity, their second of the game, but were unable to capitalize.
For the second day in a row, the Rebels headed into the final period down 2-0 to the Nordiques.
Just as Friday night, Max Hamstad scored the lone goal of the period to pull them within one. It was his second of the weekend and 12th this season.
An empty netter for Maine put the Nordiques up 3-1, and that was the final on Saturday.
The Rebels now head for a 12-day break before they return to action March 24th at Johnstown to start a three-game series.
