Philadelphia Rebels News Release
SEWELL, NJ - The Philadelphia Rebels (3-5-0-0, 6 pts) dropped the opening game of the weekend 4-2 to the Northeast Generals (7-5-0-0) on Friday night. The game was physical and scrappy from the jump.
The Rebels found themselves down early after a goal by Bryce Cooper 32 seconds into the game. The Rebels were unable to find their offensive rhythm and headed into the first intermission down 1-0.
In the second period, Philadelphia followed a 15-shot first with two goals. Early in the middle period, Tyler Stern put the Rebels on the board with a power-play goal to knot it up at one apiece. David Deputy joined in and added another goal to give the Rebels a 2-1 lead heading into the second intermission.
Philadelphia allowed three goals on seven third-period shots from Northeast and could not overcome the Generals' offense in the final period.
Philadelphia recorded its most shots on goal in an East Division game this season with 32, but could only slip two past Northeast goaltender Toby Hopp.
The Rebels will look to secure their first win on home ice on Saturday when they wrap up the weekend series against the Northeast Generals. The game can be seen live on Hockey TV at 7:30 p.m. EST and admission to the game at Hollydell is free to all fans.
