Rebellion to Play First-Ever Playoff Game Wednesday at 9pm EDT

Hoover, AL - August 19, 2014 - The National Pro Fastpitch League kicks off Championship Series Week this week. All four NPF teams have arrived in Hoover, Alabama and will practice for the first time Monday. The Championship Series week kicked off with a reception for players and VIP's at 5:00 pm CST Monday at Vulcan Park and Museum in Birmingham.

Tonight will feature a meet & greet player/VIP reception at 5:30 pm CST. Following the reception at 7::00 pm CST is the 2014 NPF Awards Banquet hosted at the Hyatt Regency/Wynfrey Hotel in Birmingham. The annual Awards Banquet will honor the League's top performing players for the 2014 season in 24 separate awards. Additionally, the regular season Ringor Cup will be presented along with the Coaching Staff of the Year and the Jennie Finch Award. Tickets are still available to the public for the 2014 Awards Banquet.

The Championship Series competition is broken out into three separate best-of-3 series. The initial series' match the #1 seed versus the #4 seed in a best-of-3 series and the #2 seed versus the #3 seed in a best-of-3 series. The winners of the first two series' will go on to compete in a Final Series best-of-3.

Wednesday launches the competitive action of the Championship. The Series will open with a 4:30 pm CST face-off of the #2 Chicago Bandits against the #3 Akron Racers. At 8:00 pm CST the #1 USSSA Pride will take on the #4 PA Rebellion with all action broadcast live on CBS Sports Network. Eric Collins and Barbara Jordan will be on the call for all the CBS Sports Network and CBSSports.com coverage.

Thursday action will continue at 5:30 pm CST with USSSA versus PA and 8:00 pm CST with Chicago versus Akron. Both Thursday games will be streamed live on cbssports.com and can be accessed through the NPF website at www.profastpitch.com or www.cbssports.com.

If either of the first two series' push to the "if necessary" third game, those games will take place at 11:00 am CST and/or 1:30 pm CST on Friday.

Friday evening will begin the Final Series of the Championship which will feature the winners of the first two series'. All Final Series games will be broadcast live on CBS Sports Network. Game 1 of the Final Series is at 7:00 pm CST Friday. Game 2 is slated for 1:00 pm CST Saturday with the "if necessary" Game 3 scheduled to take place at approximately 3:30 pm CST or 30 minutes after the completion of Game 2.

The winner of the Championship Series will be awarded the Cowles Cup Trophy following the Championship game.

Every single pitch of the NPF Championship Series will be available on streaming radio at msnsports.com. Nate Regotti will be on the call to deliver all the action.

All 2014 NPF Championship Series competition takes place at the beautiful Hoover Metropolitan Stadium located in Hoover, Alabama at 100 Ben Chapman Drive. In addition to the Series, legendary NPF superstar, Jennie Finch will be in town Saturday and Sunday to hold a Jennie Finch Camp for young athletes.
