Rebellion Sign Former UCLA Standout

Washington, PA-The Pennsylvania Rebellion, presented by the Coury Financial Group, is pleased to announce they have signed former UCLA Bruins standout B.B. Bates to her first professional contract.

Bates enjoyed an illustrious four-year career at UCLA. The Victorville, California native is tied for third all-time in home runs, fourth in the record books for RBIs and total bases and fifth all-time in slugging percentage and runs scored.

"B.B. Bates was not only a great player for UCLA in her career but she is one of the best infielders/outfielders in the country," Rebellion manager Rick Bertagnolli said. "The Rebellion couldn't be more excited that she's back playing fastpitch softball."

As a senior, Bates posted the second-best single-season numbers in Bruins softball history for home runs (25) and RBI's (74). The outfielder also became the first UCLA Player to hit two home runs in three consecutive games. She also set a school record with six home runs in just three contests after an outstanding offensive performance at the Easton Desert Classic in Las Vegas. After the tournament, Bates was awarded the 2013 Louisville Slugger Division I National Player of the Week.

The former All-American, All-West Region and All-Pac-12 honoree continued to put up staggering numbers for the Bruins in her last season as she ranked amongst the leaders in almost every offensive category; batting average, slugging percentage, on-base percentage, runs scored, doubles, multi-hit games, multi-RBI games and total bases. At the conclusion of the season, Bates was named the team MVP and Co-Offensive MVP.

In Bates freshman season in 2010, the rookie sensation was a member of the UCLA team that captured the school's 11th Women's College World Series title and the program's second championship in six years.
