Pennsylvania Rebellion News Release
WASHINGTON, PA- August 8, 2015 - The Pennsylvania Rebellion squared off yet again with the visiting Akron racers on Saturday, August 8. Despite allowing just four hits, the Rebellion fell to Akron by a final score of 6-0. Sarah Pauly earned the pitching victory for Akron while Miranda Kramer suffered the loss.
Akron jumped out to a 2-0 lead in their first at-bat after a Taylor Schlopy walk set the stage for left fielder Shellie Robinson, who smacked a two-run home run for the early advantage. Akron added to their lead in the top of the second when Nerissa Myers belted a grand slam off of reliever Haylie Wagner for a quick 6-0 lead.
The Racers nearly extended their lead in the top of the fourth inning, but right fielder Alexa Peterson curbed the Akron offense with an impressive sliding catch in the outfield.
Pennsylvania's lone hit came in the bottom of the fourth inning when first baseman Alisa Goler rocketed a line drive down the fist base line to advance catcher Kristyn Sandberg to third base. The Rebellion looked to be starting a comeback, but Pauly was able to stall the efforts in the next at-bat.
Rebellion relievers Allyson Fournier, Emily Weiman and Dagmar Bloeming held the Racers to just one hit for the remainder of the contest, but the damage had already been dealt as Akron was able to take the 6-0 victory. Saturday night's game also marked Pauly's 100th career win in the National Pro Fastpitch League. She became the first pitcher to reach the 100 career wins in the NPF.
The Rebellion and Racers will face off on Sunday, August 9 for PA's final home game of the 2015 season. First pitch from CONSOL Energy Park is scheduled for 2:35 p.m. For tickets, please visit the Rebellion front office, call 724-250-9555 or visit www.pennsylvaniarebellion.com.
