Rebellion Name Head Coach

Washington, Pa., January 21,2014 - Fastpitch softball Hall of Famer Rick Bertagnolli will lead the Rebellion as head coach of Western Pennsylvania's newest pro sports team. The Rebellion will compete this year as part of National Pro Fastpitch (NPF), the premier showcase of the world's most talented women softball players. The team will play home games at CONSOL Energy Park in Washington, Pa.

"In his 20 seasons at California University of Pennsylvania, Rick has made the program a perennial national contender and raised the profile of women's fastpitch softball in the region," said Francine Williams, owner of the Rebellion. "He is a proven winner, and we're confident he will continue to grow the fastpitch culture in western Pennsylvania as he provides leadership to the Rebellion."

Bertagnolli has led the California University of Pennsylvania Vulcans to 17 NCAA Tournament appearances and two NCAA National Championships. He was inducted into the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Hall of Fame in 2013.

"NPF features the world's top talent in fastpitch softball," Bertagnolli said, "And I'm thrilled with the opportunity to coach the sport at its highest level in western Pennsylvania, the place I've been proud to call home for the last 20 years."

With 30 years of experience and a career collegiate coaching record of 929-271, Bertagnolli is ranked fourth among active coaches in NCAA Division II winning percentage (.774) and is the winningest coach in all of Cal U athletic history.

Bertagnolli is a two-time NFCA National Coach of the Year, a four-time NFCA Regional Coach of the Year and a 12-time Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West Coach of the Year. He has coached 31 NFCA All-Americans, 80 NFCA All-Region Honorees and over 100 All-Conference Players.

Bertagnolli and his wife Jodi have two daughters, Ava and Mia.
