Pennsylvania Rebellion News Release
WASHINGTON, PA - July 12, 2015 - For the third time in this weekend, the Pennsylvania Rebellion were unable to record a run against the visiting USSSA Pride, falling by a final score of 3-0. Hannah Rogers picked up the win in the circle on the afternoon, while Haylie Wagner suffered the loss.
After a solo home run from catcher Chelsea Goodacre gave the Pride the early advantage, USSSA added their final two runs in the top of the fourth. A sacrifice fly from Amanda Kamekona followed by an RBI single from first baseman GiOnna DiSalvatore put the Rebellion behind by a margin of three.
Pennsylvania looked to respond in the bottom half of the inning when first baseman Alisa Goler and catcher Kristyn Sandberg recorded back-to-back singles. Third baseman Brittney Lindley added another base hit later in the at bat to loaded the bases, but Rogers was able to work out of the jam and keep the deficit at three runs. Lindley led all Rebellion batters at the plate, going 2-3 with two singles.
The Pride threatened to add to their lead in the top of the sixth when Goodacre sent a fly ball to deep right field, but Rebellion right fielder Alexa Peterson was able to make the impressive catch and rob Goodacre of her second solo shot of the night.
Despite a two-out single from shortstop Whitney Arion and a double from second baseman Haruna Sakamoto, the Rebellion were unable to score in the seventh, securing the Sunday afternoon loss.
The Rebellion will stay at CONSOL Energy Park to host the Dallas Charge in their inaugural trip to Washington beginning Monday, July 13. First pitch from game one of the four-game series is set for 7:05 p.m. For tickets, please visit the Rebellion front office, call 724-250-9555 or visit pennsylvaniarebellion.com.
