Pennsylvania Rebellion News Release

Washington, PA- There are distinct Pittsburgh traditions that make our region what it is like eating a Primanti Brother's sandwich, riding the incline to visit Mount Washington or strolling the streets of the South Side. None, however, are more prevalent than the rich history of the Steeltown's professional sports teams.

From the Pittsburgh Penguins' three Stanley Cup Championships to the Steelers' six Superbowl Rings and the Pirates' five World Series titles, the blue-collar town has been dubbed the City of Champions for many decades.

Add one more team to that list.

When the Rebellion takes the field this summer as the newest addition to the National Pro Fastpitch League, sports enthusiasts from Western PA and afar will get the opportunity to witness top-notch softball, comprised of the country's elite professional players. The Rebellion will vie against the Akron Racers, the Chicago Bandits and the USSSA Pride.

"As the professional organization for women in sports and events, WISE Pittsburgh is thrilled to see another professional women's team making its home in Pittsburgh," Donna L. Bour, President of the organization said. "It is further evidence that there is a place for women's sports in this home of so many champions and Hall of Fame athletes."

During the course of the season, which runs from the beginning of June to the end of August, the ladies will play 44 games and become a part of one of the oldest sports regions in the country - Pittsburgh.

The Rebellion will be swinging for the fences and hope to bring another championship title to the region when they begin their 2014 quest for a national championship.

Season ticket packages are on sale now at the CONSOL Energy Park Box Office by calling 724-250-9555 or by e-mailing tickets@rebellionprosoftball.com.
