Pennsylvania Rebellion News Release

Washington, PA - The Pennsylvania Rebellion and the Chicago Bandits concluded a three game set tonight at CONSOL Energy Park. The Rebellion were able to win the series after the rubber match went their way by a score of 2-1.

It was a pitcher's duel for much of the night with Emily Weiman for the Rebellion and Michelle Gascoigne for the Bandits setting down one batter after another through the first couple innings.

It was the Rebellion who got the power bats going in the bottom of the 4th inning to get the scoring started. Veteran Catcher Kristyn Sandberg crushed a home run over the left field fence for her second of the season and the first run of the game. On the very next pitch, First Baseman Alisa Goler lined one over the outstretched glove of Bandits Right Fielder Sammy Marshall and over the fence for her first long ball of the season. After the back-to-back jacks, it was 2-0 Rebellion.

Emily Weiman danced out of danger for much of the game, but picked up her first win of the season by going 6 innings and surrendering just a single run on seven hits. She stranded 11 Bandits on the base paths including getting out of bases loaded jam in the 6th.

The lone Bandits run came in to score in the top of the 6th. It was an infield single off the bat of Left Fielder Emily Allard, and it cut the Rebellion lead to just one.

The one-run lead would be enough for the Rebellion. Pitcher Haylie Wagner entered in the game in the 7th and picked up the save, but it was not without a little drama. She struck out Bandits Center Fielder Brenna Moss to end the game with the potential tying run at third.

The Powerhandz Player of the Game recipient is Rebellion First Baseman Alisa Goler. It was her home run that proved to be the difference and helped power the Rebellion to victory.

The Rebellion (5-8) will now have a few days to rest before heading to Alabama for two games against the USSSA Pride beginning on Friday. For the Bandits, the head to Akron to battle with the Racers starting tomorrow evening. Catch all the action on NPFTV on profastpitch.com.
