
Real Monarchs Return to Training Ahead of Inaugural USL Cup Playoff Match

SANDY, Utah (Monday) - Real Monarchs SLC (20-5-7, 67 points, USL #1 seed) return to training Tuesday after finishing their 2017 campaign as USL Regular Season Champions with a 2-1 victory over LA Galaxy II Saturday, capping the best season in the club's three-year history. USL Coach of the Year candidate Mark Briggs now turns the team's attention to its first-ever playoff run, kicking off Friday against Sacramento Republic FC.
Kickoff for the match is set for 7:30 p.m. MT from Rio Tinto Stadium as part of a Claret-and-Cobalt "AsOne Weekend," which also features RSL v. Kansas City on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. MT. Tickets for both matches are available via www.RSL.com or by calling 844.Real.Tix.
The Monarchs are led by USL MVP candidate FW Chandler Hoffman (16 goals, 7 assists - the lone player to finish 2017 amongst the Top 10 in each category) - as well as dynamic playmaker Sebastian Velasquez (9 goals, 8 assists) and GK Connor Sparrow (11-3-5, 7 shutouts, 17 goals allowed in 19 games, denial of all five PKs faced).
