Ravens to support MLL game

April 29, 2004 - National Lacrosse League (NLL)
Vancouver Ravens News Release

Your Vancouver Ravens are proud to support Major League Lacrosse (MLL), the premier professional outdoor lacrosse league. The MLL, Seahawks Stadium and First and Goal Inc. are partnering to bring some of the world's best outdoor lacrosse players to Seattle, WA. As part of the MLL's Wild West Tour, the joint event will feature a clash between National Division rivals, the Baltimore Bayhawks and the Rochester Rattlers, at 7:30 p.m. (PT) on Saturday, May 22, 2004.

Use your password, "BCLax", when purchasing your tickets through www.ticketmaster.com or when calling (206) 628-0888, and a portion of your ticket proceeds will be donated back to the BC Lacrosse Association to help further development of lacrosse in British Columbia. Also, by using your password, you will be automatically entered to win prizes from companies such as Rudeboys Lacrosse and the Vancouver Ravens.

In addition to the MLL match up, the Washington Chapter of US Lacrosse and Seahawks Stadium will feature the 2004 Washington State Lacrosse Championships earlier in the day. These state championship games will showcase boys and girls youth and high school lacrosse state championships and will be played throughout the day beginning at 8 a.m. and ending with the boys high school state championship at 5:30 p.m.

Last year the MLL brought a crowd of over 10,000 to Seahawks Stadium and it is expected that by hosting both the Major League Lacrosse game and the Washington State Lacrosse Championships, May 22 will be one of the biggest days of lacrosse anywhere in the US.

The Rochester Rattlers boast a high-octane offense that recorded league-bests in total points (203), total goals (195), and New Balance power play goals (32) in 2003. The Rattlers are lead by the infamous Powell lacrosse siblings out of Syracuse, Casey and Ryan Powell. Casey stands as the all-time career leader in points (191), second all-time in assists (84), and third all-time in goals (104). In 2001, Ryan lead the MLL in goals (63) and was second in assists (31), as he garnered the first-ever Bud Light Most Valuable Player of the Year Award.

Player-coach Gary Gait, in his second season at the helm, led the Baltimore Bayhawks to their third consecutive New Balance Championship Game. The Bayhawks' offense is powered by the high-scoring efforts of two-time defending Warrior Offensive Player of the Year, Mark Millon, who led the team with 68 points (45, 23), both among the top-5 leaders in the League. Gait roamed the midfield and tallied 30 of his own goals, while dishing out 13 assists. Defensively, Baltimore's long stick defense, lead by Jamie Hanford and Brian Reese, was a big reason why the Bayhawks were second in the league in goals against, allowing just 157 over the 12-game season.

Tickets are on sale NOW and are available by calling (206) 628 0888, and online at www.ticketmaster.com. Tickets are affordably priced at $35.00USD for VIP Reserve, $18.00USD General Admission for Adults, and $10USD General Admission for students with valid student identification.
