Arizona Rattlers News Release
PHOENIX - The playoff guaranteed Arizona Rattlers made their first trade of the off-season today, acquiring NFL veteran offensive lineman ATLAS HERRION (6-4, 305, Alabama) from the Philadelphia Soul.
Herrion was signed by the Green Bay Packers as a rookie free agent from the University of Alabama in 2004. After spending that season on the team's taxi squad, the Cleveland Browns added him as a practice player in 2005, and sent him to NFL Europe the following season. Released late in training camp, Herrion was inked by the Houston Texans, and spent the remainder of the 2006 season on their practice squad. He was released this summer.
Traded to the Soul in exchange for the former NFL guard was fullback Cory Anderson.
Also recently acquired was linebacker KURT KAHUI (6-1, 250, San Diego State), who was claimed from waivers. Kahui, who attended the San Diego Chargers training camp this past summer, played for the now-defunct NFL Europa's Amsterdam Admirals in 2007 after signing to the Chargers practice squad in late 2006. While attending college at San Diego State, Kahui racked up 105 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss and five sacks in his Aztec career. He was named to the Mountain West conference's 2nd team as a senior in 2005.
The 2008 Arizona Rattlers kickoff their 17th season in March, and have guaranteed their season ticket holders a trip to the playoffs. Season tickets, group tickets and premium single game tickets can be purchased by calling 602-379-2333.
