Raptors tab Newell for media/PR post

Rock River Raptors News Release


The Rock River Raptors Indoor football team is pleased to announce the hiring of Jamie Newell as the team's new Media/Public Relations Director.

Newell comes to Rockford after spending the last four years as the Sports Director at WCMY-AM/WRKX-FM Radio in Ottawa, Illinois.

Along with reading local sports on the A.M. station's morning news magazine show, Newell was play-by-play voice of the Ottawa Marquette Crusader football and basketball teams.

Newell also co-hosted a Saturday morning Coaches Corner show and a Friday sports talk show called "The Sports Guys."

Newell also worked at the am/fm combo in Ottawa from 1991-1995 and from 1999-2000.

Along with sports, Newell has worked in the newsrooms at WKOT-FM on Ottawa, and WSPL Radio in Streator, Illinois.

Newell's experience is not limited to just radio as he has spent time in the print journalism field at newspapers in Ottawa, Mendota and Belvidere.

Newell is a 1987 graduate of Ottawa Marquette High School and has an Associate's Degree from Illinois Valley Community College in Oglesby, Illinois.

Newell and his wife Valerie reside in LaSalle with their two dogs, Sebastian and Dakota.

RAPTORS RELEASE FIVE FROM ROSTER

The Rock River Raptors indoor football team has released five players from their training camp roster.

The players that have been release are DeJoumea Bowden, Tedrick Jones, Courtney Ford, Dan Garien and Adam Long.
