Rock River Raptors News Release
ROCKFORD, Ill. - The Rock River Raptors of the United Indoor Football (UIF) league and Rockford Thunder of National Pro Fastpitch (NPF) announced details of its new "Read More and Score" program today.
The Raptors and Thunder have teamed up to help encourage reading literacy by offering their "Read More and Score" program for elementary and middle school students during March, which is National Reading Month. The program allows teachers to enroll their class in the program as they choose. Students are then required to read one extra teacher-approved book during the month of March and write a one-page summary.
The deadline to complete the essays will be March 31. At that time, teachers will submit the number of students who successfully completed the program and each of these students will receive "one free ticket" to any Raptors and Thunder home game. As an additional incentive, all classrooms that enroll will be entered in a contest to have members of the Raptors and Thunder visit their class.
Any students interested in the program should talk to their teacher
about having their class enrolled. Teachers and school administrators
can get more information and enroll their classes in the program by
contacting Janel at 815-965-7000 or janel@raptorsuif.com
Fans and businesses can purchase season tickets for the 2007 season
