Raptors 2006 Schedule Announced

Rock River Raptors News Release


The United Indoor Football league has officially announced the 2006 season schedule.

The Rock River Raptors' season begins on the road on March 25th as the Raptors open at Roberts Stadium against the Evansville Bluecats.

The Raptors will play the defending UIF Champions, the Sioux Falls Storm, for the inaugural home opener on Saturday April 1st at 7:30 at the Rockford Metro Centre.

Joining Rock River in the UIF's Central Division will be the Bloomington Extreme and the Peoria Rough Riders. The Bloomington Extreme are in their first year as the league's expansion team and will start the rivalry against the Raptors at Bloomington's new U.S. Cellular Coliseum on Saturday April 8th. Then the Extreme will return to Rockford's Metro Centre on May 6th and June 24th. The first battle between the other Division foe Peoria Rough Riders will be April 22nd at home. The Raptors will make the return trip to Peoria's Carver Arena on July 1st.

Other home opponents will be the Omaha Beef on Saturday April 29th and the Lexington Horsemen on April 20th. The Fort Wayne Freedom, a team that had the best record in the league last year, was beat by the 8th seed Raptors 57-22. The Freedom will come to town on June 17th. To finish the regular season, the Rock River Raptors will play the Ohio Valley Greyhounds on July 8th.

All home games are on Saturday and will start at 7:30 (CST) at the Metro Centre. All games on the 2006 season will be carried on ESPN Radio 1380 networking with WEKZ 93.7, also streaming live on Raptorsuif.com through ESPN Radio 1380.

Notes:

- We will also have a family section where there will be no alcohol beverages allowed in Section 223.
