SEATTLE (Sunday, June 28, 2009) - The Colorado Rapids suffered just their third loss of the season falling to the Seattle Sounders FC 0-3 in their first-ever regular season meeting at Qwest Field Sunday afternoon.
The defeat, the largest of the season for the Rapids, snaps Colorado's franchise best eight game unbeaten streak that had not seen the team lose since April 19 in a 0-1 loss at Houston. The loss also marks just the second time this season Colorado has been shutout.
Seattle's Nate Jaqua scored in the 48th and 68th minutes and assisted on the Sounders' first goal in the 23rd minute to lead the home side to the victory in front of a record crowd of 32,526.
This afternoon's loss was only the third for Colorado this season marking the latest point in the club's 14-year history they had gone into any season before picking up a third loss.
The Rapids return to Dick's Sporting Goods Park next week to host the Chicago Fire on Saturday, July 4 at 7 pm MT.
