
Rangers take commanding 3-0 series lead

Kitchener, ON: Matt Pepe scored his first goal of the post season with just 1:57 to play in regulation leading the Rangers to a 3-2 win over the visiting Sarnia Sting.
After a scoreless first period Kevin Henderson scored his second of the playoffs at 2:13 to put the Rangers up 1-0. Brian Soso added his first just :47 seconds later to give the Rangers a 2-0 lead. Steven Stamkos replied for the Sting to make it a 2-1 game after forty minutes.
In the third period Stamkos scored his second of the game at 17:17 to tie the game at 2-2. Matt Pepe responded moments later with the eventual game winner at 18:03 beating Sting goalie Peter VanBuskirk.
John Murray picked up the win stopping 28 of 30 shots.
The Rangers return to the ice Tuesday night in Sarnia for game 4 leading 3-0 in the best of seven series. If necessary the Rangers will host game 5 in Kitchener at The Aud Friday night (7:30 p.m.).
