The Marquette Rangers have tied for third place in the North Division tonight. After a 3-1 win against the Traverse City North Stars, Rangers and the North Stars will go head-to-head to battle it out Saturday night in Traverse City.

Defense among both teams was strong in the first period as a total of 22 shots were deflected.

James Gallagher (Brodie Zuk and Luke Bennett) scored the first goal of the night five minutes into the second period. Gallagher then sat the remaining 15 minutes of the period for a combination of two penalties.

With 13 minutes left on the clock, Zuk (Mike Macari and Jason Cohen) took to the net, then again two minutes later (Jake Hauswirth) on the power play. The North Stars goal of the night came next with four minutes remaining in the game. "Our chemistry is coming together nicely as expected and we're sticking together. Tonight we played a good, hard game offensively and defensively where everyone stuck to their role" says Coach Leigh Mendelson.

Traverse City out-shot Marquette 34-30 tonight, as Rangers' goaltender Stephen Ritter continues to defend his net. Alpena currently holds first placed in the league with a 10-4-0 record and .714 PCT, USNTDP second with 7-6-1, .536 PCT. Tied for third is Marquette with 7-6-1 and a .536 PCT and Traverse City 7-8-1, .469 PCT.

Rangers are on the road two more weeks traveling to Fargo, N.D. and Mahoning Valley in Boardman, Ohio, before returning home to take on the Alpena Ice Diggers Nov. 17 and 18 at Lakeview Arena.
